Salamanca by Day

I walk around Salamanca, visit some churches and purchase some local treats.
They call Salamanca La Ciudad Dorada for the golden glow the local sandstone gives the buildings.

Salamanca by Night
Posted on February 19th, 2009
I stroll the streets of Salamanca at night.
With the creation of the University of Salamanca in 1218, the city became one of the most significant academic centres of Europe. It very much remains a univeristy city today. It’s also known to have the purest form of Spanish, Castilian, and so also attracts a lot of foreign language students, giving it an active nightlife on top of the great history and renaissance architecture.

Hostal Sara
Posted on February 18th, 2009
Steps from the Plaza Mayor, I stay a the Hostal Sara (map) in Salamanca.
Pretty good deal at about €40/night for a double room with bathroom, internet and balconies.
ps. I filmed the room when I checked out so it’s a bit messy, but was spotless when I arrived.
